Lands We Love Raises Over $100,000!

Last Saturday, Guemes Island came alive with community spirit as 150 guests joined Skagit Land Trust at our Guemes Mountain & Valley Conservation Area for our annual Lands We Love Social and fundraiser.
Against a backdrop of shimmering wetlands, scenic open space, and forested mountain slopes — a living reminder of what we’re all working to protect — attendees savored a wonderful meal courtesy of Max Dale’s Catering as they listened to the lively bluegrass tunes of One Eyed Cat.

The evening was made even more meaningful by the presence of staff members from the Coast Salish Youth Coalition (above left), who opened the gathering with songs and heartfelt remarks about ongoing and future collaborations that honor indigenous cultural practices on Guemes Island. We were also delighted to hear from several other Guemes conservation partners whose efforts have helped preserve the island’s natural character for wildlife and people alike.

Many guests took the opportunity to explore the property firsthand through guided tours led by Skagit Land Trust staff and volunteers.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our donors, this year’s Lands We Love Social raised over $100,000 — all of which will be used to protect and steward special, natural places throughout Skagit County.
To every member and supporter who made this possible: your dedication moves and inspires us deeply. Thank you for investing in the land we’ll leave to future generations.
