Molly Doran

Molly Doran
Molly’s (she/her/hers) career spans land conservation and outdoor education. Before joining Skagit Land Trust in 2002, Molly spent over 20 years managing schools and teaching wilderness education in North and South America and Africa for the National Outdoor Leadership School. She holds a B.E.S. in environmental studies and a master’s degree in managing and consulting from the Leadership Institute of Seattle at Bastyr University. Molly served on the national Land Trust Accreditation Commission from 2009-2020.
Michael Kirshenbaum

Michael Kirshenbaum
Michael (he/him/his) is responsible for overseeing acquisitions for Skagit Land Trust’s conservation areas and easements. He previously worked at North Cascades National Park and in the non-profit advocacy sector in Washington, D.C.. Michael has a M.S. in Geography – Natural Resource Policy from Western Washington University. He serves on the board of directors of the Skagit Watershed Council. Michael has been with the Trust since 2007.
Laura Hartner

Laura Hartner
Laura (she/her/hers) oversees fundraising, communications, and community engagement for Skagit Land Trust. Prior to joining the world of land conservation, Laura served as the Events & Communications Director at the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce where she planned serval annual largescale festivals. Her work with Skagit Land Trust combines her love of the outdoors with her experience in community outreach, event planning, journalism, and non-profit fundraising. Laura’s previous work includes King 5 News and Northwest Public Radio.
Jessica Lange

Jessica Lange
Jessica (she/her/hers) has an extensive background in stewardship from her time at Sound Salmon Solutions, a regional fisheries enhancement group south of Skagit County. Her understanding of local conservation issues and experience in applying for and managing grants will be beneficial to the Trust’s work of acquiring and conserving land. Jessica graduated from Hawaii Pacific University, where she received a degree in Environmental Studies and Natural Resource Management. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the greater Pacific Northwest and adventuring with her dog, Charlie.
Kari Odden

Kari Odden
Kari (she/her/hers) works with conservation land transactions, planning, and government grants. She has served on the Skagit County Marine Resources Committee since 2006. Previous work includes teaching, community outreach, and project coordination in the U.S. and overseas. Kari has an M.S. in Environmental Science from Western Washington University.
Stacy Dahl

Stacy Dahl
Stacy (she/her/hers) engages the public with Skagit Land Trust through education and volunteer opportunities, with a focus on Trust protected lands. She oversees the Trust’s Community Science and Engaging Youth in Conservation programs and is the first point of contact for volunteers and interns at the Trust. Stacy moved to Bellingham from the Mojave Desert, where she spent six years as an environmental educator on the public lands surrounding Las Vegas. She has a Master’s in Biology from Miami University of Ohio. A life-long learner, she enjoys spending time outdoors exploring the different ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest.
Sarah Gardam

Sarah Gardam
Sarah (she/her) has worked in nonprofit communications and marketing since 2018, when she decided to leave a career teaching college English to try something new. Sarah enjoys volunteering and has supported various forest protection efforts in Washington State. Whenever she can carve out some free time, Sarah loves hiking, backpacking, and kayaking with friends and her partner Frank.
Jonathan Worley

Jonathan Worley
Jonathan (he/him) manages stewardship activities across the Trust’s Conservation Areas. Jonathan joined the Trust as a full-time staff member after serving AmeriCorps terms with the Trust and Washington Conservation Corps. Jonathan holds degrees in Human Biology and Sustainability Science and Practice from Stanford University, where he was a member of the men’s baseball team. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking, trail running, crossword puzzles, and weekly trivia nights with friends.
Muriel Troka

Muriel Troka
Muriel (she/Her/Hers) manages stewardship activities across the Trust’s Conservation Areas. Growing up in Concrete WA, Muriel formed a deep connection to the local ecosystem, which inspired her to pursue a career conserving and restoring lands in the Skagit valley. She has a degree in Environmental Policy from Western Washington University and has worked in riparian habitat restoration with the Washington Conservation Corps, and Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group. Muriel often spends her free time outdoors alongside her dog Bogey, swimming, camping, canoeing, and searching for mushrooms and wildflowers.
Jaz Strode-Elfant

Jaz Strode-Elfant
Jaz (they/them) has worked in non-profit administration since 2018, and brings technical skills and familiarity with donor databases and non-profit financial operations. A graduate of Western Washington University, where they studied Sociology and Art, Jaz spends their free time exploring the beautiful Skagit Valley, hiking trails, and making art.
Max Morange

Max Morange
Max Morange previously served as the Land Trust’s Stewardship Director. Prior to work at SLT, Max managed emerging projects in the hunger relief sector as well as agricultural projects in Whatcom and Skagit Counties. In his free time, Max tackles invasive weeds at home and dreams of adventures in the Cascade Mountains and the Puget Sound.
Oceanna Boulanger

Oceanna Boulanger
Oceanna (she/her/hers) serves the Trust through engaging with the community at events and coordinating with volunteers. She also develops educational material to connect youth with the land. Oceanna earned a B.S. in Environmental Sustainability Studies from Northern Arizona University. After graduating she has moved back to her hometown of Bellingham, where she has grown her skills in environmental education and outreach working various internships. In her free time, Oceanna loves to spend time backpacking in the Cascades and kayaking in the bay.

Warren Walz

Warren Walz
Warren is a CPA with 50 years of experience. He retired from being a member/owner of Williams & Nulle, PLLC in June 2018. Since his retirement, Warren continues to mentor younger CPAs on a part time basis. Currently he is a member of the Anacortes Yacht Club, which he is a past commodore of, and the Anacortes Rotary Club. Warren joined the Skagit Land Trust board in 2014 and is the current Board President. He also serves on the land committee.
Brad Furlong

Brad Furlong
Brad Furlong lives with his wife, Eileen Butler, on Fir Island, where they raised three children. He is a graduate of the Evergreen State College and the University of Puget Sound School of Law. Brad is a retired attorney who worked with the Skagit Land Trust as its pro bono legal counsel for over twenty years. He is an avid cyclist, hiker, skier, and snowshoer. Brad is particularly interested in the history of polar exploration and the effects of colonization on the American West. Brad’s love for the Skagit goes back to the 1970s when he began to backpack and climb in the North Cascades. The suburbanization he witnessed growing up in California’s Diablo Valley motivates him to help advance SLT’s mission to preserve habitat in the Skagit.
Lynne Wenberg-Davidson

Lynne Wenberg-Davidson
Lynne is a retired Senior Program Manager with Boeing. She earned her undergraduate degree and MBA at the University of Washington, Seattle. Since retiring to Skagit County, Lynne has strengthened her focus and energies on environmental advocacy and volunteers her time with several local environmental organizations. After graduating from the Salish Sea Stewards Program in 2020, she joined their Advisory Committee to help administer program improvements. She is Skagit Land Trust’s representative on the Skagit Marine Resources Committee (SMRC) which she has served on since 2021 – and is currently Chair. Lynne is also involved with the Northwest Straits Commission. Lynne leads several SMRC projects, such as the Bowman Bay Beach Restoration and the Skagit Bull Kelp Kayak surveys. Lynne was elected to the board in 2023. She serves as Treasurer and serves on the land committee.
Tim Manns

Tim Manns
Tim Manns retired from the National Park Service after 34 years as a park interpreter and program manager. His assignments included North Cascades National Park, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Zion, and several other areas of the National Park System. Tim grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Harvard University with a degree in liberal arts. He serves on the board of Skagit Audubon Society and is on the Skagit County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. He served many years on the Padilla Bay Foundation Board and was a U.S. alternate on the U.S./Canada Skagit Environmental Endowment Commission. Tim and his wife Brenda Cunningham have volunteered with Skagit Land Trust for many years. Their longest involvement with the Trust has been as volunteer stewards for Barney Lake Conservation Area since the early 1990’s.
Hal Lee

Hal Lee
Hal retired in 2012 after 40 years of technical instrumentation design and field service for mechanical engineering companies and the University of Washington Department of Oceanography. He volunteers with several local conservation and community service organizations. Hal has been a land steward with Skagit Land Trust since 2008 for several conservation areas. Hal joined the board in 2013 and serves on the following committees: executive, stewardship, facilities, land, and investment.
Jim Glackin

Jim Glackin
Jim is a Real Estate Broker with Windermere Real Estate. He is also a member of the Skagit County Conservation Futures Committee (Farmland Legacy Program). A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Jim enjoys hiking & backpacking. He joined the Board in 2016.
Mark Hitchcock

Mark Hitchcock
Mark is a retired forestry consultant who has lived in Skagit County for more than thirty years. He holds degrees in forest science from University of Washington and Yale University. Mark has served on the boards of Skagit Land Trust and Skagit Conservation District.
Steven H. Johnson

Steven H. Johnson
Steve Johnson is a retired family doctor and the co-founder of North Cascades Family Physicians. Steve joined the Trust’s board in 2009 and has served as Skagit Land Trust’s Stewardship Chair for over a decade, helping staff and volunteers carry out the important work of land management once a property is conserved forever. After raising their family beside Barney Lake – and helping to conserve that beautiful land as a conservation area – Steve and his wife, Robyn, now call Anacortes home.
Mark Linnemann

Mark Linnemann
Mark Linnemann is owner & proprietor of both the Guemes Island Resort and the Guemes Island General Store. Mark and his wife Kelly purchased the resort in 2006 and the store a decade later. He is a strong advocate for conservation on Guemes Island and beyond and helped garner local support for projects such as the protection of Guemes Mountain. Mark is formally trained as a Fine Art Photographer with a focus on landscape & environmentally sensitive subjects. He is involved in sustainably focused Glass Arts on Guemes Island, through his work with the nonprofit Beacon Glass. Mark also supports nature-focused elementary education through his involvement with Fiddlehead Montessori in Anacortes, WA. Mark joined the board in 2011 and serves on our land committee.
Denby Lloyd

Denby Lloyd
Denby migrated to Alaska for college (biology) and graduate school (oceanography) and was fortunate to spend months at a time in remote field camps and aboard ship in many regions of the state. His career thereafter centered on fishery and natural resource management, ranging from field technician to land use permitter, research biologist to policy analyst, fishery manager to chief executive of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. After 44 years up North, Denby retired to the Big Island where he and his wife Laurie built a coffee, citrus, and cacao farm. More recently, they have moved to Anacortes to be closer to kids, grandkids, and other North American wildlife.
Meagan Maillet

Meagan Maillet
Meagan Maillet holds a Juris Doctor from New England Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services, with Minors in Environmental Studies & Communication, from Western Washington University. After finishing law school, Meagan moved back to Mount Vernon to live closer to her family. She now works (remotely) as the Board of Review Staff Attorney for the Massachusetts Department of Labor & Workforce Development. While in Boston, Meagan served as a Pro Bono Attorney for the Volunteer Lawyer’s Project and as a Law Student Advocate for CORI Initiative. Before moving to Boston, Meagan completed Skagit Conservation District’s Watershed Master’s Program and served as Skagit Land Trust’s AmeriCorps volunteer in stewardship. The Trust was excited to welcome Meagan back in 2025, now as a Board member.
Therese Ogle

Therese Ogle
Before retiring several years ago, Therese’s business Northwest Grantmaking Resources provided philanthropy support for several family foundations and charitable trusts. Her board service over the years includes North Cascades Institute, the Manieri Jazz Endowment, Philanthropy Northwest, ACLU-WA, and the Fremont Women’s Clinic. In addition to her time with Skagit Land Trust, Therese also volunteers with the Padilla Bay Center, Friends of the Forestlands, and the Skagit Community Foundation. With her long-time partner John Draper, she divides her time between a Samish Island beach cabin on Padilla Bay (next to Skagit Land Trust properties) and a home in Anacortes near Little Cranberry Lake (part of Anacortes Community Forestlands which Skagit Land Trust protects with permanent conservation easements. Her beautiful golden retriever, Lily, is happy at both sites. Therese joined the board in 2020. Until recently, Therese chaired the Development & Outreach Committee.
Phil McLoud

Phil McLoud
Phil holds a BS and MS in Agricultural Engineering from North Carolina State University. Before retiring in 2012 he spent 32 years with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. His experience included working with farmers to both assist them and to mitigate the environmental impact of agriculture, reclaiming abandoned mine lands, restoring wetlands through the Wetland Reserve Program, constructing small flood structures, and more. Since moving to Skagit County, Phil has been actively engaged through volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group, and Skagit Land Trust. In addition to his volunteer activities, Phil enjoys woodworking and bicycling and is active in both these communities. Phil is being elected to the board for an initial 3-year period. However, he has served on the Facilities Committee since 2023 and is currently the Facilities Committee chair.
Kathy Thornburgh

Kathy Thornburgh
Kathy studied botany and plant ecology at the University of Tennessee and marine ecology at the University of Washington. She previously worked as a preserve steward for The Nature Conservancy and a habitat biologist for Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Kathy also ran a water quality lab for the Tulalip Tribes and worked for 20 years for Snohomish County on water quality and environmental monitoring, public education, and habitat stewardship. She is an avid bicyclist and an active Master Gardener.
Chris Varela

Chris Varela
Born and raised in Southern California, Chris now calls Skagit Valley home. He earned a BA in History from CSU San Bernardino and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Studies at Ohio University. He works as a history teacher in Mount Vernon. Passionate about both education and conservation, Chris has been volunteering with the Skagit Land Trust since 2019 as a land steward and has served on the Development and Outreach Committee since 2021. When not in the classroom or working on conservation efforts, he enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring and appreciating nature. Chris joined the Board in 2025.
Keith Wiggers

Keith Wiggers
Keith was one of Skagit Land Trust three founders back in 1992. He is also the former president of Skagit Audubon Society. Before he retired, Keith worked as a veterinarian for many years. Keith first joined the Board in 1992.
Anne Winkes

Anne Winkes
Anne is a retired pediatric nurse practitioner with degrees from University of Washington and Skagit Valley College. A Stanford University English graduate, Anne’s interest in Skagit Land Trust grew from her love of Skagit County’s natural areas. Anne joined the board in 2014. Anne currently chairs Skagit Land Trust’s public policy committee and serves on the land committee. Anne is deeply involved in community science and education regarding our local Great Blue Herons and local heronries, including the March Point Heronry.
