Conservation Story
The Samish River Koetje Conservation Area was donated to Skagit Land Trust (SLT) in 1996 to protect 2 acres of forest and about 900 feet of shoreline habitat along the Samish River.
Site History and Ecology
The Samish River meanders through the property and connects to other rivers and creeks which provide habitat to a variety of fish, including salmonids. The Conservation Area hosts songbirds and red-legged frogs. Dominant forest species located here include Douglas fir, western red cedar, red alder, big leaf maple, and western hemlock.
Access
Due to the sensitivity of the Conservation Area, it is not open to the public.
