Date & Time:
October 10, 2026
1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Location:
Three private properties on Samish Island. Event address and directions will be sent to registrants via email.

Join Skagit Land Trust staff for a tour of three Samish Island properties that are working to restore Garry Oak (Oregon White Oak) habitat!

With 99% of Garry Oak habitat already lost here in the PNW, conservation organizations and private landowners are working to protect the remaining trees and reestablish groves in the region. On this special, educational tour, guests will have a chance to learn about the long-living, drought-tolerant Garry Oak, the only native oak species in Washington State.

Guests will visit a property with 50 young sapling oaks in their first decade of life, as well as a mature grove of oaks on a private conservation easement on Williams Point. This property provides stunning views from its shoreline cliffs of Garry Oaks twisting their limbs out towards the Salish Sea, Guemes Island, and beyond. The easement features rocky bluffs, balds, and forests where the owners have been working for 15 years to support the restoration of Garry Oak habitat.

Guests will conclude their journey at another landowner’s home where veryone will enjoy a selection of tasty appetizers and drinks, along with gourmet smores and other treats.

This event is part of our annual fundraiser, so there is a $75 ticket fee. Event address and directions will be sent to registrants via email.
